Notes from Mrs. Baker
June 10, 2009
Dear Parents,
Mr. Young has organized a field trip for a few classes on Friday, June 12th. Please read the following taken from Mr. Young’s Blog.
“Field Trip: We will be going on our Montpelier-Barre Trip on Friday, June 12th. We will leave the school at 8:30, and arrive in Montpelier around 9:00. We will first stop at the State House and talk about its importance and what it represents. The students will take some time to draw a picture of the State House and write adjective-noun statements to describe the building. At 10:00 we will travel to Hope Cemetery in Barre. We will be revisiting our Monument Unit and working in teams to learn about some of the people who are being honored and memorialized. We will end our day by visiting Hubbard Park. Here we will eat our lunch and walk/jog the trails. When the students are finished with their exercise, they will sit down and journal about the importance of fitness, and things they can do to stay fit over the summer. If you would like to go, please let me know.”
Everyone needs comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and a bag lunch. If anyone is available to come along, please do. The more the merrier.
Next Tuesday, the Barnett’s have invited us for a pool party at their house. Dave will be grilling hotdogs and hamburgers. We will probably leave around 11:00 a.m. and return home for the buses. Please be sure to have your child bring his/her towel, sunscreen, and swimsuit. Also, please contact Bear and or Chatham with questions about the party.
Lastly, Ms. Hale is asking her children for next year to bring in a baby picture on June 16th for step up day.
Thank you,
Georgeanne
Birthday Class
Today is my birthday.I want to celiprate it by having a family party. I think my class liked the donuts I brought in today. I hope I get what I want, but if I don’t that’s o.k. too. Today is my last little League game. It would be nice if we won even though we don’t keep score. On WDEV this morning, I was surprised to hear my name on the Happy Birthday song. Also in the morning, my counsins called me with a surprise birthday son. Eli Hammond

May Update
Hello folks…Again I have been neglectful with the blog. My only excuse is exhaustion. As many of you know it has been an emotionally charged spring session for me, but I am committed to finishing this year on a high note. The children and I are working hard to finish curriculum and maintain focus.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND…
The PTA is sponsoring a green up/May Day celebration on May 31st. Information about how you can help went home last week. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend as I am working that day.
The field trip to the state house on June 1st is still on the schedule. The following people offered to drive: Elizabeth Cadwell, Suzie Lowe, Sandy Tarburton, Mary Simmons, Beth Libby, Jon Jameison, and Chatham Barnett. Thank you all for offering. As you can see we have plenty of cars going. Perhaps we can coordinate car pooling that morning. I will send more details about the trip later this week.
The WES Spring Concert is scheduled for tomorrow evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please be sure to have your child dress appropriately for the occassion.
